Following the creation of the new duty-free zone, local Quebec companies will start benefiting from the creation of new jobs and new opportunities. It is the 9th of its kind in Canada, but the first to be assigned to Quebec.
This duty-free zone will allow companies to gain access to all kinds of information concerning the programs related to the duty-free concept, including the customs duty exemption program, the drawback program, the customs bounded warehouse program, the distribution, export and information centers program (department of finance of Canada).
The accredetation was announced on august 30th 2017 in the presence of François-Philippe Champagne, minister of International trade and Joël Lightbound, deputy of Louis-Hébert and parliamentary secretary of the Canadien ministry of health , in the name of Navdeep Bains, Canadian minister of innovation, sciences and economic development and minister in charge of “Economic Development Canada”.
The designation of this new duty-free zone falls under the priorities fixed by the Canadian government and whose objective is to help companies better adapt themselves to international markets and global value chains.
